Raleigh Tutoring provides one-on-one ACT and SAT Prep tutorials that customize instruction to boost scores. We offer instruction for both exams in critical reading, writing, math, science, any combination, or a comprehensive review of all subjects – wherever your child needs the most help. We can also help you decide which test is best for your child. All of our ACT and SAT tutors are not only experienced teachers, but are also internally certified to ensure that they have an outstanding grasp of the material covered in the exams and the strategies needed to get a top score. This means they have scored in the 90th percentile; many have made perfect scores in the areas they tutor. Our ACT and SAT tutoring services are flexible, convenient and affordable. Students can meet with their tutors in our office, virtually, in their home, or at a public location such as a library or coffee shop. While most sessions are an hour and most students opt for several weeks of tutoring, you can specify as many or as few sessions as you like.

We can even work with a small group--up to three or four--of students at a time if they’re all at approximately the same level academically and have the same needs. Parents need to arrange these groups themselves, but receive a discount on the per-student rate.

Short on time but want a solid foundation for either the SAT or ACT? Our popular “boot camp” style classes may be the answer! Offered on Saturdays during the school year approximately one week before each SAT/ACT, Raleigh Tutoring boot camps expose students to the different kinds of material they’ll be tested on and teach them time-tested strategies for beating the clock, avoiding wrong-answer traps, and guessing effectively. Our boot camps are taught by the same experienced, internally certified ACT/SAT pros who work for us as SAT/ACT tutors.

The boot camp is designed primarily for students who haven’t taken the test before, except in its preliminary form (i.e., the PSAT or Pre-ACT), although it can be an effective refresher course for students who have experience with the exam but haven’t studied on their own or had tutoring help. SAT and ACT boot camps are held on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Wade Edwards Learning Lab (WELL), 714 St. Mary's Street, Raleigh, NC 27605, unless otherwise specified. Students should bring a bag lunch for the 30-minute break between instruction in the math and verbal sections.

Here’s the SAT and ACT boot camp schedule for the 2018-2019 school year.

SAT & ACT Summer Programs 2025

Raleigh Tutoring is offering several ACT and SAT prep options this summer. Check them out!

SAT/ACT: Find Your Best Fit & Prepare - In-Person and Online Options Available

SAT vs. ACT: Which test is the best fit for you? This class is designed to help students identify the college entrance exam that aligns best with their strengths—and prepare them to succeed on that test.

During their sophomore year, students take either the PSAT or the Pre-ACT and will provide those scores to their instructors. On Monday, students will take a practice version of the test they did not take at school. We will then compare both sets of scores to determine whether the SAT or ACT is the better fit.

From Tuesday through Thursday, students will receive focused instruction in all subject areas of their best-fit test. On Friday, they will take another full-length practice test to measure progress and identify areas for continued improvement.

Students will also receive either The Official SAT Study Guide or The Official ACT Prep Guide, along with expert guidance on test registration and preparation strategies.

Introducing Our Common App Essay Class

Get a head start on your college applications by completing your personal statement this summer! Crafting a standout college essay can be one of the most challenging—and important—parts of the application process. This class--available both in-person and online-- is designed to guide students through every step of writing a compelling Common App personal statement. Raleigh Tutoring’s College Essay Class helps students move from uncertainty to a confident, polished final draft. Through a guided process, students will:

  • Brainstorm ideas and reflect on personal experiences to uncover meaningful moments that have shaped their identities.

  • Choose the Common App prompt that best aligns with their story.

  • Draft, revise, and refine their essays into a compelling final version.

Before class begins, students will complete a questionnaire to help identify key milestones and accomplishments. Students should bring a laptop and have access to Google Docs for writing and feedback. If students finish early, they can work on any additional essays they may have.

Students will leave the course with a polished Common App essay—and peace of mind heading into senior year. Completing your essay early means less stress in the fall and more time to focus on classes, extracurriculars, and college applications. Don’t wait—make your essay a strength, not a scramble.
